Ok. The only reason people have it out for Duck Dynasty, is because they one: always shoot guns. two: the kill animals with the guns. three: they pray at the end of the show when they eat dinner. The people against guns, people who are all about animal rights, and people who have different beliefs than the robertson’s family are in fiery that they have to sit by, knowing that people everywhere are watching that show. They just can’t stand it. I happen to love duck dynasty, I have watched every episode aired on tv, and I don’t see anything wrong with it. Come on people, you don’t believe in what they do and we dont bash you about what you believe. In other words, this crap about one of them said something that was offensive is BS…. I told you what the real issue is..thats my opinion, HEY!!! JACK!!!!

No one is arguing that they aren’t entertainment.

Here’s my thought on the subject. Because of our first amendment, government can’t touch us when it comes to our freedom of speech. But it isn’t only the government we need to fear. Large corporations and special interest groups are now telling us what we can say. They’ve sneaked in and gained power over us while we were focused on our government. All Americans seriously need to reconsider their approval at what has happened to the Duck Dynasty man, just because “the government didn’t hush him”.

What’s the difference between what A&E is doing to Phil, and what corporations are doing in challenging the HHS mandate, thereby attempting to tell us what we can do?

        Why don’t you tell me.

The difference is in conservative reactions to those incidents. It is hypocritical that they claim, in the case of the HHS mandate, that a business has the right to impose its morals on its employees, but when A&E applies its ethical standards to Phil, they then decry that action.

I’m sorry this issue is so confusing for you to grasp. It’s simplicity is evident to everyone else. I can’t help you.

Real Americans don’t like being told what to do, say or think.

        no
but he did disparage a swath of people by saying that after they become homo
that they then will naturally branch out into bestiality

It is a television show. Writers write the dialog. Directors set the scenes. Marketing departments figure out how best to sell commercials and merchandise. What better way to sell more than to create a little controversy in the off season? Create a “buzz” and get the media talking about the show and the consumers taking sides and buying product.

The next season has already been filmed (minus one episode). I guarantee that no one is losing any money over this. It all sounds like a textbook way to make more money in the entertainment industry. I’m not convinced that the script writers for the show didn’t script his offensive remarks as part of the plan to promote the show and sell more advertising and merchandise.

I’m glad you mentioned the possibility of this whole thing being scripted or staged to draw more viewers. I wondered the same thing. I’ve never watched the show and I’ve neither seen nor heard anything lately to cause me to tune in.

I have a feeling that the plan is working well. A&E announced that they will show the filmed episodes even while Robinson is “on hiatus”. It will be interesting to see if there is an uptick in viewership.

Hahaha! That was awesome! I loved the before and after pictures (the yuppie pix)! Hahaha! That guy is right – what ABOUT greed!? And I agree with him that I don’t like Ol’ Phil’ being a representative for southerners. I, for one, don’t share his views.

That guy in the video is an idiot! Is he gay? If he is and I was gay I would be very much insulted! Everyone is talking about the Duck Dynasty’s guy crude language, what about this guy? Yuch !!!

Hey, I grew up in South Carolina in the sixties, when racial prejudice was the norm and gay meant you were happy and having a good time. Remember the Flintstones theme song ended with “We’ll have a gay old time.” As kids, we didn’t know what homosexuality was. Most of my friends and family have changed in opinion and attitude since then, but there are still some who are just as prejudicial and discriminatory as they were fifty years ago. My brother and brother-in-law hate President Obama because he’s black and they post memes on FB supporting Phil Robertson. Robertson is about ten years older than I am, so he has ten more years of having those beliefs ingrained in him before societal attitudes started changing.
